Ingredients

1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup pumpkin puree (canned or fresh)

1 cup apple butter

3/4 cup brown sugar, packed

2 large eggs

1/2 cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

1/4 teaspoon salt

Optional: whipped cream or ice cream for serving

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

Prepare the Pie Crust: If using a homemade pie crust, roll it out and place it in a 9-inch pie dish. Trim the edges and prick the bottom with a fork to prevent bubbling. If using a store-bought crust, place it in the pie dish according to package instructions.

Mix the Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, apple butter, brown sugar, eggs, heavy cream, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt. Mix well until smooth and fully combined.

Pour the Filling: Pour the pumpkin-apple butter filling into the prepared pie crust, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Bake the Pie: Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake at 425°F (220°C) for 15 minutes. Then, reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for an additional 35-40 minutes, or until the pie filling is set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool the Pie: Once baked, remove the pie from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 2 hours. This will help it set up properly.

Serve: Slice the pie and serve with whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream, if desired. Enjoy the unique flavor combination of apple and pumpkin!
