Ingredients

1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)

Optional: a pinch of sea salt for topping

Instructions

Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper, allowing some overhang for easy removal later. Spray lightly with cooking spray for added non-stick assurance.

Melt the Butter: In a medium microwave-safe bowl, melt the unsalted butter in the microwave. Allow it to cool slightly before adding other ingredients to prevent cooking the eggs.

Mix Wet Ingredients: Once the butter has cooled, whisk in the granulated sugar until well combined. Then, add the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, mixing well after each addition.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until evenly mixed.

Incorporate Dry to Wet: Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, careful not to over mix. Stir until just combined, then gently fold in the chocolate chips.

Bake: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish. Smooth the top with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).

Cool and Cut: Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Once cooled, use the parchment overhang to lift them out. Cut into bite-sized squares (or use a small cookie cutter for fun shapes). If desired, sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt for an extra flavor boost.

Serve and Enjoy: Serve these bites at room temperature or slightly warmed. Perfect for sharing at parties or enjoying as a sweet treat with your favorite beverage!
