Ingredients

1 large round sourdough bread (or similar artisan loaf)

8 oz Brie cheese, cut into small pieces

1 cup fresh cranberries (or cranberry sauce if preferred)

1 apple, cored and diced (Granny Smith works well)

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

¼ cup chopped pecans (optional)

3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Fresh rosemary or thyme leaves for garnish (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Bread: Using a serrated bread knife, carefully cut the sourdough loaf into a grid pattern. Make diagonal cuts about 1 inch apart, being careful not to cut all the way through the bottom. You want the bread to hold together.

Mix the Filling: In a bowl, combine the fresh cranberries (or cranberry sauce), diced apple, brown sugar, and cinnamon. If you're using chopped pecans, add them to the mixture as well. Stir until well combined.

Stuff the Bread: Place pieces of Brie cheese into the cuts of the bread. Then spoon the cranberry-apple mixture into the cuts as well. Make sure to fill each cut generously for maximum flavor.

Butter It Up: Brush the melted butter over the top of the loaf, ensuring it seeps into the cuts. Sprinkle salt and pepper lightly over the top.

Bake: Wrap the loaf in aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 15 minutes, then open the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and the bread is crispy.

Garnish and Serve: Remove the loaf from the oven and let it cool slightly. If desired, sprinkle fresh rosemary or thyme leaves over the top before serving. Pull apart the pieces and enjoy while warm.
