Ingredients

2 ripe bananas, mashed

1 cup almond butter (smooth)

1/2 cup rolled oats

1/3 cup honey or maple syrup

1/4 cup ground flaxseed

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (optional)

1/4 cup chopped nuts (e.g., almonds or walnuts) for topping (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Base: In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.

Combine Ingredients: Add the almond butter, honey (or maple syrup), vanilla extract, and salt to the mashed bananas. Mix until well combined.

Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Stir in the rolled oats and ground flaxseed until everything is evenly mixed.

Add Chocolate Chips: If using, fold in the dark chocolate chips gently until evenly distributed.

Line the Pan: Line an 8x8 inch baking dish with parchment paper, allowing some overhang for easy removal later.

Spread the Mixture: Pour the mixture into the prepared dish and evenly spread it out using a spatula, smoothing the top.

Add Toppings (Optional): Sprinkle the chopped nuts on top if desired. Press them down slightly with the spatula for better adhesion.

Freeze the Bars: Place the baking dish in the freezer for at least 2 hours or until completely firm.

Cut and Serve: Once frozen, use the overhanging parchment paper to lift the entire slab out of the dish. Cut into bars or squares as preferred.

Storage: Store the bars in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 3 months. Enjoy directly from the freezer or let sit for a few minutes to soften slightly before eating!
