Ingredients

2 large heads of broccoli, cut into florets

4 cloves of garlic, minced

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

½ cup heavy cream

½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon olive oil

½ cup breadcrumbs (Panko preferred for extra crunch)

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Zest of 1 lemon (for brightness)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). This ensures a beautiful roast on your broccoli.

Prepare the Broccoli: In a large mixing bowl, combine the broccoli florets with olive oil, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Toss until well coated.

Roast the Broccoli: Spread the broccoli mixture out on a baking sheet in a single layer. Roast in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes, or until the edges are slightly crispy and the broccoli is tender.

Make the Creamy Mixture: While the broccoli is roasting, mix heavy cream with half of the grated Parmesan cheese in a small bowl. Add the lemon zest for added flavor and stir well.

Combine and Bake: Once the broccoli is done roasting, remove it from the oven and transfer it to a baking dish. Pour the creamy Parmesan mixture over the broccoli, ensuring even coverage. Sprinkle the remaining Parmesan cheese on top, followed by the breadcrumbs to create a crunchy topping.

Final Bake: Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 10-12 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven, allow to cool slightly, then sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving hot.
