Ingredients

3 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)

1/4 cup pure maple syrup

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

A pinch of sea salt

Cooking spray or parchment paper for baking

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 200°F (95°C). This low temperature will help dry out the apple slices without burning them.

Prepare the Apples: Wash and dry the apples. Remove the core and slice them thinly using a mandoline or a sharp knife. Aim for 1/8 inch thick for optimal crispiness.

Make the Maple Glaze: In a small bowl, combine the maple syrup, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt. Mix well until the cinnamon is fully incorporated.

Coat the Apple Slices: Place the apple slices in a large bowl and drizzle the maple glaze over them. Gently toss until all the slices are evenly coated.

Arrange on Baking Sheets: Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or lightly spray with cooking spray. Lay the apple slices in a single layer on the sheets, ensuring they don’t overlap.

Bake: Place the trays in the preheated oven. Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours, flipping the apple slices halfway through the baking time. Keep an eye on them to ensure they don’t burn; the apples are done when they are dry and crispy.

Cool & Serve: Once baked, remove the chips from the oven and allow them to cool completely on the baking sheets. They will become even crispier as they cool. Enjoy as a snack, or use them as a topping on salads or desserts!
