Preheating your oven is an essential step to achieving perfectly roasted Brussels sprouts. Set your oven to 400°F (200°C). This temperature allows the bacon to crisp up nicely while ensuring the Brussels sprouts cook through without becoming mushy. Proper preheating also ensures that your sprouts will caramelize beautifully, developing that sought-after flavor that balances sweetness and savory notes.

Ingredients

1 lb Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved

6 slices of thick-cut bacon, cut in half

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper, to taste

½ teaspoon smoked paprika

Freshly grated Parmesan cheese, for garnish (optional)

Fresh parsley, finely chopped, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Prepare the Brussels Sprouts: In a large bowl, toss the halved Brussels sprouts with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper until well coated.

Wrap in Bacon: Take one slice of bacon and wrap it around each Brussels sprout, securing it with a toothpick if necessary. Place the wrapped sprouts on the prepared baking sheet, seam-side down.

Roast: Arrange the Brussels sprouts in a single layer on the baking sheet. Roast in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, turning halfway through, until the bacon is crispy and the Brussels sprouts are tender.

Garnish: Once roasted, remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. If desired, sprinkle with fresh Parmesan and chopped parsley for an added burst of flavor and color.

Serve: Transfer the crispy Brussels sprouts to a serving platter and enjoy them warm as a delectable side dish or appetizer!
