To create mouthwatering Zesty Tuna Skewers, proper skewering techniques are essential. Start by selecting your skewers—bamboo skewers are a great option, but if you're using metal skewers, there's no need to soak them. When threading the tuna and vegetables onto the skewers, ensure that your pieces are evenly cut to promote uniform cooking.

Ingredients

For the Tuna Skewers:

1 lb fresh tuna, cut into 1-inch cubes

2 tbsp olive oil

2 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp honey

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp fresh ginger, grated

1 tsp sesame oil

Salt and black pepper to taste

1 red bell pepper, cut into 1-inch squares

1 green bell pepper, cut into 1-inch squares

1 red onion, cut into wedges

Wooden or metal skewers (if using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes prior to use)

For the Lime Salsa:

1 cup cherry tomatoes, quartered

1 avocado, diced

1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped

1 jalapeño, seeds removed and minced (optional)

Juice of 2 limes

1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Marinate the Tuna: In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Add the tuna cubes and gently toss to coat. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Prepare the Vegetables: Chop the red and green bell peppers and red onion into 1-inch pieces. Set aside.

Make the Lime Salsa: In another bowl, combine the quartered cherry tomatoes, diced avocado, chopped red onion, minced jalapeño (if using), lime juice, cilantro, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix gently and set aside for flavors to combine.

Assemble the Skewers: Thread the marinated tuna cubes and vegetable pieces alternately onto the skewers, creating a colorful pattern.

Cook the Skewers: Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates. Place the skewers on the grill and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the tuna is cooked through but still tender and juicy. Avoid overcooking to maintain the best texture.

Serve: Remove the skewers from the grill and arrange them on a serving platter. Spoon the lime salsa over the skewers or serve it on the side for dipping. Garnish with additional cilantro if desired.

Enjoy: Relish your delightful Zesty Tuna Skewers with Lime Salsa while sharing with family and friends!
